MYSA Code of Conduct

MYSA Code of Conduct

Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association standards for players, coaches, parents, and spectators.

Our Commitment to Respect

Chair City Soccer is a proud member of the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). All participants — players, coaches, parents, and spectators — are expected to uphold the MYSA Code of Conduct at all practices, games, and events. These standards exist to ensure a safe, positive, and respectful environment for every child.

Players

Player Code of Conduct

  • Play by the rules and in the spirit of the game.
  • Respect teammates, opponents, coaches, and referees.
  • Accept decisions made by referees and officials without argument.
  • Never use abusive language, gestures, or engage in bullying of any kind.
  • Win with humility and lose with grace.
  • Report any unsafe or inappropriate behavior to a coach or parent immediately.
  • Represent Chair City Soccer and your community with pride.
  • Violations of this code may result in removal from the game or suspension from future events.
Coaches

Coach Code of Conduct

  • Prioritize the well-being and development of every player above winning.
  • Treat all players, parents, officials, and opponents with respect.
  • Maintain composure on the sideline and model positive behavior at all times.
  • Never use abusive, threatening, or demeaning language toward anyone.
  • Comply with all MYSA and Chair City Soccer policies, including SafeSport and background check requirements.
  • Ensure practices and games are conducted in a safe environment.
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with parents and players.
  • Violations of this code may result in removal from the game or suspension from future events.
Parents & Spectators

Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct

  • Encourage and support all players — not just your own child.
  • Respect the decisions of referees and officials. Do not argue or confront them.
  • Never use abusive, threatening, or negative language on the sideline.
  • Do not coach players from the sideline during games — leave that to the coaches.
  • Model the sportsmanship and respect you want your child to demonstrate.
  • Refrain from entering the field of play unless invited by a coach or official.
  • Violations of this code may result in removal from the game or suspension from future events.
Enforcement

Violations & Consequences

Violations of the MYSA Code of Conduct are taken seriously. Depending on the severity, consequences may include a verbal warning, removal from the game or event, suspension from future games, or permanent removal from the program. Chair City Soccer board members and coaches are responsible for enforcing these standards at all events.
